The secrets behind special effects

When you think of film in Lyon, do you immediately think of the Institut Lumière? Or the Musée des Miniatures, perhaps? One place may have escaped your attention. Beginning on the 17th of September, the exhibition Effets spéciaux – Crevez l’écran designed by Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie in Paris, will be held at Pôle Pixel in Villeurbanne. It offers a chance to explore behind the scenes of art, technology and innovation in special effects, with green screens, models, animatronics and, more recently, 3D headsets and motion capture. Around the exhibition, sequenced like a film with its own set, post-production and screening room, three temporary installations will put you to the test. One of them, ‘Anamorphoses et illusions’, offers an immersion in a 3D scene, where you can play with virtual objects. Make the studio yours.
