A gathering like no other

Named ‘French Capital of Culture 2022’, Villeurbanne is holding the first edition of its famous festival Les Invites from the 15th to the 18th of September. A festival that describes itself as “different”, the event organised by Ateliers Frappaz has announced four days of shows (including drama, circus arts and more) and concerts, 85 free performances and the presence (fingers crossed) of 400 artists from Europe and Africa.

On the programme: Comedy with the company ‘Les 3 points de suspension’; the latest creation by the company L’envers
du décor, 'Mister Tambourine Man', returning from the Festival d’Avignon; a zip-line between the Gratte-Ciel skyscrapers; the famous fire installations by the company Carabosse; a performance of the show given behind closed doors for the Dance Biennale’s parade by the company N’Soleh.

In terms of music, there are no big concerts, but a multitude of intimate performances, fanfares and curiosities, such as the Quatuor Debussy roaming around in a lorry. The “jardins extraordinaires” (extraordinary gardens), an urban scene co designed with local residents, will see the creation of 1000 giant poppies made of decontaminated masks dyed red!

An event not to be missed!
