Make your own knife

How about spending a day with Thierry, an artisan smith and cutler, at his workshop in Vénissieux? 

The morning is spent learning about the tools, materials and techniques used. 

The afternoon is then a chance to put what you have learnt into practice! You will make a blade and mount it on a wooden handle, after making the important choice of which type of wood to use (olive wood, walnut, cherrywood or oak). What’s more, the whole process is filmed! 

So you come away with two great souvenirs: your personalised knife and a video documenting its creation.

The day’s session is priced at around 295 euros per person.
