A legend in photography

From the town of Saint-Genis-Laval, near Lyon, Marc Riboud was a member of the Magnum Photos agency. However, he saw photography as an obsession rather than as a profession. He would have turned 100 this year. Like the travel log of a twentieth century poet and adventurer, the anniversary exhibition at the Musée des Confluences – Marc Riboud, 100 photographies pour 100 ans (100 photographs for 100 years) – looks back at the career of a photographer who had an eye like no other. His images, which will be exhibited throughout 2023, are a reflection of each of the periods crossed, revealing cultures from around the world (particularly Mao's China) and the biggest events of the last century, sometimes taking us right to the front lines.
