Make some noise!

In Villeurbanne, the 2022 Fête de la Musique (Music Day) has been designed to be an accessible, spontaneous celebration, where everybody can take part, as they are invited to take to the streets with an instrument. This event reunites with the spirit of its founder, Jack Lang, who will be in attendance. 800 children in costumes will be gathering to make some noise and set things in motion, with ‘Le cri de la jeunesse’ (The cry of youth), a scripted contemporary work. Then, from 6 to 8 pm, children and teenagers from the ENM (National Music School) will be performing concerts and street shows, in various instrumental, vocal and dance groups. A series of contemporary music groups will also be performing near Le Quartz, a large glass-fronted building. All along the route – a long pedestrian trail running for 6 km between Cusset and Foch (in Lyon’s 6th district), down Cours Émile-Zola – large tables will be provided for the public to picnic and share dishes, like a huge neighbourhood party. The fun evening will also include a ‘village d’enfants’ (children’s village), with activities for kids, and roaming blind tests!
