Tentacular culture

Here is an event not to be missed! A giant squid will be dragged up from the waters of the Saône and placed in the courtyard of the cultural venue ‘Les Subs’... Before you call an animal welfare organisation, we should add that the squid in question was created by Syrian artist Khaled Alwarfa. Working in collaboration with Mike Shnsho and Layla Abdulkarim, he imagined a giant octopus inspired by the Kraken, the mythical Scandinavian sea monster, for Les Subs. 25 metres wide and 15 metres tall, and complete with 180 metres of tentacles, the monster is designed like a living ecosystem. This monumental, immersive work was made with reused materials retrieved in the local area. It will serve as a venue for performances, concerts, DJ sets and even a giant terrace where food and drinks will be served!

Until 27 July
