Wine made in Lyon
Opening the very first urban winery was the crazy dream of Franck and Grégoire Saint Olive. Last September, they moved their stainless-steel vats and barrels into the heart of Lyon’s 6th district in order to produce their wine in an urban setting. The first four cuvées have just been released: four single-varietal wines named Cuvée 480, in reference to the river Saône’s length in kilometres. The promise? “Fresh, moreish and easy-to-drink wines, priced at under ten euros, to demonstrate that it is possible to produce wine in the city centre and maintain a reasonable price range,” explains Grégoire Saint Olive. As soon as public health restrictions are lifted, the winery will once again welcome people for tours, as well as wine-tasting and blending workshops.
