Winter is behind us. The weather is getting warm again and the leaves are sprouting. In other words, it’s time to get your trainers on to walk, jog or travel to the four corners of the metropolitan area.

Salon du Randonneur

Whether it’s alone or as a family, for a day out or a longer trip, near your home or on the other side of the world, walking, hiking, horse trekking, cycling, canoeing and backpacking are excellent summertime activities and some of the most popular physical pursuits in France! To find inspiration and attend conferences, debates, screenings and workshops, make your way to the 15th edition of the Salon du Randonneur, for a day out with no blisters guaranteed.
24 to 26 March at Cité Internationale, Lyon 69006.

Lyon Urban Trail

Is climbing some 6000 steps, making your way through fifteen or so parks, and taking on an altitude difference of 1400 metres a challenge that you feel you could rise to? If so, then you may be ready for the long-distance Lyon Urban Trail: a 37 km route. You’d like something a little bit less challenging? There are also several shorter options available to choose from, with a 24, 14 and 8 km trail, and a 12 km hike.

Ultra trail des Coursières

This famous race through the Monts du Lyonnais has a notoriously difficult “ultra trail” (112 km long with an altitude difference of 4770 metres) and offers a diverse range of panoramic viewpoints to enjoy along the way. It is also kind enough to offer some easier options, including 54, 25 and 11 km routes. Last year, a race for children aged 6 to 15 years (1 to 3 km) was introduced.

Ultra Boucle de la Sarra

Ultra Boucle de la Sarra

To take part in this mad and fun epic race, half time trial and half urban trail, you need to enjoy counting… Each participant signs up for a single route of around 2 kilometres with an altitude difference of 90 metres, which they will then repeat in a loop, alone or as part of a relay, for 2, 6 or 24 hours! It’s a little bit crazy and very lively.

Courir pour Elles

Created in 2010 to fight against women’s cancers, and carry out prevention and support actions, this race includes three formats: 10 km time trial, 5 km at your own pace, and 5 km walk. There are also audio-guided and connected versions to choose from. What’s more, because staying healthy is an ongoing pursuit, the association also organises rambling, dancing and cycling events spread over the course of the year.
