Following four years of works, this show venue located in Lyon’s Confluence district is returning to Lyon’s cultural scene with a programme fit for the event. Get ready for a show!
Located in Lyon’s former wholesale market buildings, this venue for concerts and residencies, dedicated to contemporary music, is an outstanding part of the Confluence district’s architectural heritage. It is also a central part of Lyon’s cultural scene. A holder of the ‘SMAC’ (Scène de Musique Actuelle) quality label, this venue has welcomed many emerging and high-profile artists, such as Alt-J, Fauve, Biga Ranx, Didier Wampas and La Femme, from 2006 to 2018.
It is a far cry from the site’s original purpose, which, from 1961 to 2009, was a wholesale market. For nearly half a century, an average of around 300,000 tonnes of goods a year passed through these buildings, located a short walk from Perrache railway station. Until the creation of the Rungis International Market, in 1969, it was actually the biggest wholesale market in the whole of France! After moving to Corbas in 2009, the market was replaced by Marché Gare, a cultural venue that has just undergone four years of renovation works.
You can discover the new face of the venue on the 16th of September, with a preview concert by Slift x Etienne Jaumet. The new-look venue will have increased capacity, from 300 to 400, and will feature a new performance area with capacity for 100: the Kiosk. Throughout the autumn, the two stages will be graced by the presence of artists such as Tropical Fuck Storm, H-Burns, Mush, Terrenoire, MPL, After Geography, Crack Cloud, Black Midi, Claide Days, The Rodeo, Gilla Band, Kit Sebastian, Burning Heads and Aloïse Sauvage.
