Two major destinations can be discovered at the Musée des Beaux-arts this summer.

First, the United States with the monograph ‘Robert Guinan. Chicago. En marge du rêve américain’ (Robert Guinan. Chicago. On the fringes of the American Dream). This exhibition was created in resonance with a painting acquired by the museum in 1977: Portrait of Nellie Breda. Painted by the artist in 1973, the work is displayed amidst 70 paintings, drawings and lithographs that depict people on the fringes of society, mainly Black Americans from Chicago’s poorest neighbourhoods, in bars, streets, subways and other settings

The museum then takes visitors to a very different country, Oman, through the exhibition Voyage en terre d’encens (journey to the land of incense). Designed jointly by the Lyon Musée des Beaux-arts and the Oman National Museum, this immersive exhibition looks at the photographs of Ferrante Ferranti, who immortalized twenty or so objects and works from the Omani collections.
