Stories of gold
You would be forgiven for expecting to find jewellery on display in the latest exhibition at the Museum of Printing and Graphic Communication entitled ‘Bijou Bijoux’ (literally ‘Jewel Jewels’). Instead, you will find books, images and printed documents, loaned by the Municipal Library of Lyon and the École des Arts Joailliers de Paris (School of Jewellery Arts of Paris), or from private jewellery collections, which offer a chance to explore the world of jewellery through little-known stories, techniques, destinies, faces and memories... Those of the Fouquet jewellery shop, an Art Nouveau treasure and ancestor of the concept store that was dismantled and reassembled in the Musée Carnavalet, the New York jeweller A$ap Eva, and the researcher-photographer Paul Koudounaris, who immortalises skeletons adorned with gold and gemstones.
