Baroque n’roll

Based on ‘Des racines et des rêves’ (of roots and dreams), the theme of the new season for this Lyon-based baroque music ensemble, the founder and artistic director Franck-Emmanuel Comte has decided to celebrate their 30th anniversary with an original series of monthly performances. The idea behind it is to introduce new audiences to early music in unexpected ways. Folia, for example, brings together the hip hop dancing of Mourad Merzouki with Baroque folias. He also likes to revive Baroque manuscripts that have been gathering dust in regional archives, by revealing them to the public in interactive ways, as in the show ‘Bach ou pas Bach ?’ (Bach or not Bach), which comes in the surprising form of a concert-quiz.
