Love in all its forms
Some regard the painter and philosopher Nicolas Poussin as austere. Here you can discover his seductive and sensual side, through forty or so paintings and drawings displayed at Lyon’s Musée des Beaux-Arts (Museum of Fine Arts) for the exhibition Poussin et l’amour (Poussin and love). Although he is considered to be one of the great masters of classical French painting, he was censored and some of his works were mutilated, cut up and even destroyed as they were deemed too erotic.
This exhibition-event begins with the painting La Mort de Chioné (The Death of Chione) done in Lyon early in his career, on a journey to Italy. It was acquired by the museum in 2016. This is one not to be missed!
